The stock exchanges are open today, February 1, for a special trade session as the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament today. Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session higher.

During Sitharaman's speech, the Indian benchmarks erased morning gains and fell to the day's low. The Nifty 50 declined 0.81% to 23,318.30, and the Sensex fell 0.64% to 77,006.47.

The Indian stock market is open today as the BSE, NSE and MCX have announced a special trading session on Budget day.

Sensex and Nifty have enjoyed a three-day winning streak, even as FIIs continue to unwind long positions. However, despite the recent gains, Nifty remains 11 percent below its record high from September 27.

Indian stock markets opened flat in a special trading session on Saturday, ahead of the Budget presentation. The Nifty 50 index opened at 23,528.60, registering a gain of 20.20 points or 0.09 per cent,

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50 opened marginally higher ahead of the Economic Survey 2025, and tracking gains in global markets. Optimism is also brewing as investors look for potential catalysts in the upcoming Union Budget.

Indian stock markets closed on a positive note Thursday. The NSE Nifty 50 climbed 86.40 points or 0.37%, settling at 23,249.50, while the BSE Sensex surged 394.88 points or 0.52% to end the session at 76,927.84.
