Big Bear eagles Jackie and Shadow made it back to their nest after the Fourth of July fireworks display sent them away. The Friends of Big Bear Valley posted on their blog that the parents returned to one of their favorite trees on Sunday after flying away during the Fourth of July fireworks.

Big Bear’s famed bald eagle pair, Jackie and Shadow, have returned to their nesting area after they fled from the loud noise of July 4th fireworks. Officials with the nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley said Sunday evening on Facebook that the eagle pair returned to the area late Saturday, July 5.

After vacating the nest during Independence Day fireworks celebrations, Big Bear bald eagles Jackie and Shadow have returned home. (July 7, 2025)
