OU football will not host a traditional spring game, opting for a fan day where players and coaching staff members will participate in combine-style drills.

It appears that the age of “spring games” in college football is coming to an end, as the Oklahoma Sooners became the latest program to cancel their spring game.

The Sooners are the latest program of several to scrap the annual spring football game tradition, and will instead host a fan-based event on April 12.

Like many college football programs around the nation, the Sooners have decided to move away from a traditional spring scrimmage and will have alternate fan engagement activities.
