Estevao Willian turned down Cole Palmer’s invitation to spend time with his future Chelsea teammates after facing the Blues at the Club World Cup. The 18-year-old Brazilian is among the highest-rated talents in world football, and agreed to sign with Chelsea last summer. He will finally complete his move to Stamford Bridge this month.

Chelsea new boy Estevao Willian has turned down the chance to join his soon-to-be team-mates at the Club World Cup, having been knocked out by the Blues before he links up with them later this summer. The Brazilian wonderkid has stayed with Palmeiras despite officially signing a deal with Chelsea over a year ago.

It was with a tear in his eye that Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira bid farewell to the teenager whom he described as “my son”, and although Willian Estevao could not stop Chelsea reaching the Club World Cup semi-finals he certainly made an impression against his new club.
