Jack Bech's older brother, Tiger Bech, was only 27 when he was killed in a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year's Day. Exactly one month later, Jack was named MVP of the Senior Bowl following a game that saw him haul in 6 catches for 68 yards.

A bittersweet conclusion to the Senior Bowl on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama. TCU wide receiver Jack Bech caught the winning touchdown pass as time ran out for the American team in a 22-19 victory. Bech is the brother of Tiger Bech, the former Princeton football player who died in the horrific terrorist incident New Year’s Eve in New Orleans.

Jack Bech already had a lot of reasons to perform well at the Senior Bowl, but an unthinkable tragedy had given the TCU wideout even more incentive to stand out while competing against other NFL draft prospects.

Bech was also voted Senior Bowl MVP with six receptions, 68 yards and the winning score. Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan, a former Denton Ryan alum, made the pass to Bech on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line as the American team defeated the National team 22-19.
