CHICAGO (WLS) -- Extreme heat is in the forecast for the Chicago area Monday. ABC7 Accuweather Meteorologist Mark McGinnis said temperatures will climb into the low to mid 90s in the afternoon and it will feel like between 105-109 degrees. Some morning rain could delay the onset of the heat before temperatures soar in the afternoon.
A line of fast-moving storms prompted severe thunderstorm warnings in the Chicago area and ground stops at O'Hare and Midway airports. There were also reports of storm damage.
Forecasters warn of 100- to 105-degree heat index values through Tuesday, with potential storms offering limited relief.

Another day of storms has prompted a ground stop at O'Hare International Airport. There was no rain falling in downtown Chicago as of 4:30 p.m., and Midway International Airport was not affected. But the Federal Aviation Administration said there was a ground stop due at O'Hare due to thunderstorms.
